TROUBLESHOOTING FOR SHEETFED AND WEB PRESSES<\/h4>\n

Mechanical ghosting :\u00a0Repeat of image patterns in solids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Causes<\/th>\nRemedies<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
Too much water on the plate.<\/td>\nCut dampening to minimum possible.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Glazed or hard ink form rollers.<\/td>\nCheck durometer of rollers \u2013 should be under 35 (25 to 30 is optimum). Deglaze rollers with\u00a0Uni OD Deglazer<\/strong>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Ink not being transferred properly through ink train to the plate.<\/td>\nCheck roller settings and adjust to manufacturer\u2019s specs.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Ink too transparent<\/td>\nAdd small amount of silver or opaque white to ink. Ask ink manufacturer for more opaque ink.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Poor layout of form<\/td>\nChange layout to allow for better ink recovery to the rollers in the area of ghosting.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Poor distribution of ink.<\/td>\nAssure that ink train distributor rollers are set to full oscillation. Allow ink form rollers #2 and #3 to oscillate to help break up ghost. Do not let #4 oscillate, as this will likely cause more problems.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
