TROUBLESHOOTING FOR SHEETFED AND WEB PRESSES<\/h4>\n

Roller stripping :\u00a0Rollers do not accept ink in areas, starving the plate of ink in those places.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Causes<\/th>\nRemedies<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
Fountain solution incorrect.<\/td>\nTest pH and conductivity of solution. Adjust to manufacturer\u2019s recommendation.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Rollers too hard or glazed (hardness should be between 25 and 35 durometer).<\/td>\nRemove from press and deglaze with\u00a0Uni OD Deglazer<\/strong>\u00a0as per instructions on label. Replace rollers if durometer too high.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Too much water being run<\/td>\nCut back water.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Copper rollers repelling ink\/oxidized.<\/td>\nWash rollers and treat with copper activator as directed on label.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Too much Gum Arabic in fountain solution<\/td>\nReplace fountain solution with one containing less gum.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Excessive alcohol in the fountain solution<\/td>\nAlcohol is a contributor to both hardening and glazing of rollers. Increase frequency of deglazing and replacing the rollers.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Ink film on rollers is too thin.<\/td>\nRun heavier ink film.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Detergents in dampeners.<\/td>\nRinse them thoroughly.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Press wash absorbed by rubber rollers.<\/td>\nWash with\u00a0Unigraph Water-Miscible Wash<\/strong>\u00a0and use water as the last wash-up step.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Hard water being used for dampening solution.<\/td>\nChange to deionized, reverse-osmosis (RO) or distilled water for dampening solution. Wash rollers with\u00a0Uni OD Deglazer<\/strong>\u00a0to remove contaminants.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
